Scottish Election 2001

Scottish Conservatives

The Brief

Steal the daily news agenda with a series of provocative posters.

The Solution

For the most part, political posters are a bit like the headlines from a tabloid newspaper. Short, sharp, possibly funny. But they must start with a truth if they are going to resonate with the electorate.

The Results

Google ‘Bliar’ and you’ll get over 66,000 hits. The term started with our poster at the 2001 Scottish Elections and has been used the world over ever since. (The Sun at the time were somewhat churlish in their praise – possibly because we thought of it first.)
Our campaign helped the Scottish Conservatives achieve more seats than they could have possibly imagined.
