Who we are

Ian Wright,
Managing Partner

Ian is a very experienced business leader. His approach to business is to combine creativity and entrepreneurialism with sound commercial judgement. His many years working in Marketing have resulted in an in-depth knowledge & understanding of many business sectors. His career has seen him work with the private and public sectors, political organisations, charities, start-ups and international businesses.

Ian combines his role at Family with being Managing Director of Tribe Global, a network of independent communications agencies, which gives him a unique global view of the communications industry.

He is particularly proud of the more than 150 awards won by Family since the agency was founded.

‘Giving something back’ is a really important part of Ian’s life. He has sat on the Edinburgh Board of Marie Curie, helped Survival International and Lepra, and taken part in fundraising cycles for Marie Curie and 500 Miles over the last couple of years.

When he’s not working, you’ll find him supporting Dundee United, watching Scotland play rugby or ski-ing in the Alps.

David Isaac,
Creative Partner

David has over 30 years experience in marketing, 20 of those years as Creative Director.

He’s worked in all kinds of agencies on all the media channels; from tv and posters, to press, DM, POS, digital and social.

David started his early career in London at Ted Bates, Y&R, Yellowhammer and Grey Integrated.

After London he moved to Scotland to and worked for Riley Advertising, started Yellow M Scotland and founded family.

Along the way, David has created over 150 award-winning creative and effectiveness campaigns for a variety of clients in all different sectors.

Probably his proudest achievement is having two of his posters voted in the Top 100 posters of all time.

However, what is most rewarding for David now is helping brands discover who they are - and helping them find a unique positioning.

After which he can use his extensive creative experience to create effective, memorable campaigns across all media platforms.

Out of work you’ll find David on the golf course (playing golf), playing football or badminton. Or just being a family man - his other family that is.

Kevin Bird,
Creative Partner

Kevin is an experienced professional who has worked in the world of marketing and communications for over 30 years. He also worked as a miner for over 5 years in a previous life, so knows all about ‘getting his hands dirty’.

A marketing career that began in TV, posters and print, now stretches across all the media channels including DM, POS digital and social.

Kevin is passionate about ideas and loves working with all kinds of brands.

Everything from launching new and exciting ones, to recreating and discovering the hidden benefits of more established ones. He has a pragmatic approach to solving problems and making things happen.

His agency life started at the Bridge, Barkers and Riley. Launching Yellow M Scotland as Creative Director, and then becoming one of the founding partners of Family, has given Kevin an invaluable insight into running a business.

Kevin has won over 150 National and International awards for creativity

AND effectiveness, perhaps proving his career-long philosophy –

big ideas and great thinking can make a major contribution to a clients business.

Proudest moment? Has to be having two of his posters voted in The Top 100 Posters of All Time.

Outside of his work, Kevin enjoys quality time with his family and dogs.

He is a devoted follower of Sunderland FC. Loves all things music, film, and sport. He also plays tennis, badminton and ‘terrible’ golf.

What we do

Through our brand workshops, we push and challenge you to find your own individual brand truth; get to the heart of your brand and find out what sets it apart. We then tell its story in a unique and compelling way:

We believe in being brave and confident. You need to stand out; otherwise you are wasting your money.

Less is more. Our experience enables us to distil complex messages with simplicity and clarity so they are perfectly understood.

Your most powerful weapon. When you are competing with thousands of messages a day, an original, creative idea cuts through, engages and gets your message across.
